This school was developed from a multi-level instructional exercise 5-room school building to a total of K through 12 schools by 1986. CIS is a day school that utilizes English as the dialect of a guideline and takes after a date-book year from August to May.
The first school was situated on Gorordo Avenue in Lahug, Cebu City, and in 1973, it relocated to Banilad, occupying a 2.3-hectare parcel rented from the local government. In 2000, CIS relocated to its new, permanent, purpose-built 3.2-hectare campus in Pit-os. The campus spans 3.2 hectares of land and encompasses 7,500 square meters of instructional space, incorporating classrooms, labs, computer rooms, art rooms, music rooms, cafeterias, offices, and a gymnasium. The football field is full-sized, the parking lot can accommodate 150 cars, and the compound is highly secure.

In the school year 2007-2008, Cebu International School achieved worldwide international through the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and also PAASCU Accreditation inside the Philippines. Cebu International School’s unique accreditation by CIS, WASC, and PAASCU sets it apart as the only school in the Philippines with this triple distinction, positioning it uniquely in the education landscape.
